متن کاملPrecision Limits to STEM Imaging from Dynamical Scattering and Channeling of Sub-Angstrom Electron Probes
Precision smaller than the resolution is routinely achieved in electron microscopy, with 3-5 pm being the best reported for STEM [1], compared to 1-3 pm for TEM [2]. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) introduces the fundamental precision limit in STEM and TEM images. However, before the fundamental limit is reached, practical limits are usually encountered, such as image distortions caused by inst...
متن کاملPreliminary Results from a Parallel MATLAB Compiler
We are developing a compiler that translates ordinary MATLAB scripts into code suitable for compilation and execution on parallel computers supporting C and the MPI message-passing library. In this paper we report the speedup achieved for several MATLAB scripts on three diverse parallel architectures: a distributed-memory multicomputer (Meiko CS-2), a symmetric multiprocessor (Sun Enterprise Se...
متن کاملPreliminary Results from the Application
We describe ADJIFOR, an automated adjoint code generator for Fortran, and present preliminary results from the application of ADJIFOR to augment the CFL3D ow solver. Based on these initial results with CFL3D, we argue that, even in its infancy, ADJIFOR can deliver derivatives accurately and eeciently for use in aerodynamic shape optimization problems with 200 to 500 independent design variables.
متن کاملGeneration of GW - level , sub - Angstrom Radiation in the LCLS using a Second - Harmonic Radiator ∗
Electron beams are strongly microbunched near the high-gain free-electron laser (FEL) saturation with a rich harmonic content in the beam current. While the coherent harmonic emission is possible in a planar undulator, the thirdharmonic radiation typically dominates with about 1% of the fundamental power at saturation. In this paper, we discuss the second-harmonic radiation in the Linac Coheren...
